Lonely Girl, Gracious God Review:
When Lauri became pregnant with Farema (Fee, as she is called), she knew something wasn’t quite right. She was in denial for a long time — vacillating between wanting and not wanting to acknowledge the disorder. Her own insecurities from her upbringing exacerbated the feeling that she wasn’t measuring up to certain expectations. It was further exacerbated by the cultural differences of her husband Cody who is a Muslim.
I can only imagine how frustrating (and exhausting) it is to deal with temper tantrums and other challenging behaviors. Lauri sacrificed much to make sure Fee had the best in everything from medical care to education. It was what any parent would do. This book brings to light the exhausting and challenging journey of one family’s experience with a child who has autism.
