Blog Tour / Book Review: The Keys to the Kingdom by Jeff Dixon

We love Disney in our household!

My mother was at Disneyland on opening day and she passed down a Mickey Mouse watch she received that day to me, and I plan on passing it down to Kiddo when she's ready for it, as well.

Growing up in Southern California, we went to Disneyland a lot. It was familiar and part of my childhood. Now that we live on the other side of the country, I hope to make Disney World part of Kiddo's childhood, maybe not in the same way (the cost of going has drastically increased and we are 12 hours away!), but as a very big part. So when I had the chance to review this book through Mama Buzz, I was was super-thrilled to glean some behind the scenes info from the book!.

SynopsisGrayson Hawkes learns how imaginative and elaborate Walt Disney World is when he accepts an invitation one sunny day from a trusted friend landing him in a world he never knew existed. Barely escaping a late night encounter, he finds himself desperately trying to solve a mysterious disappearance while trying to stay ahead of those who are chasing him. He navigates through the kingdom where knowledge of seemingly unimportant Disney facts and some divine help are the only way he can discover the lock that can only be opened by an ancient key. His world becomes even more complicated when he is captivated by mysterious woman, causing him to make a series of choices that takes his faith to the brink. Within the walls of Walt Disney World is more mystery than one imagination can contain. Here Disney Trivia is not a game; and the ancient key is the only way out!

About the AuthorJeff Dixon was raised in Florida and has always been fascinated with the man Walt Disney and the theme park he created. Dixon feels that any guest who would take the time to look would discover a story that will never be completed. It is against this canvas that Dixon paints this mystery, adventure, and thriller. The epic drama carries the reader across the state of Florida to discover details that most people have missed. Each discovery and revelation will have the reader wondering if they are reading fact or fiction. In a quickening pace, the characters find themselves on a collision course with an unthinkable outcome! Fans of Walt Disney will love the history and tourists will find a travel guide that takes them on a trip most guests never get to take.

Review: Did you read the Davinci Code? If you did, and you like that style of mystery, you are REALLY going to enjoy this book! I could NOT put it down! There is SO much here! A great mystery that unfolds at the perfect pace, lots and lots of behind the scenes (underground) info on Disney World, trivia about Walt Disney and the company he founded, a lot of action chases, suspense if Hawk will find the solution to the mystery and who will end up being the good guys/bad guys, and lots of adventure! WHEW!

Seriously, I loved this book from moment one. Course it coulda been because I love the name Grayson Hawkes- doesn't it just sound like a guy you want to know and be around? Like adventure is gonna follow him everywhere he goes? Making him a pastor gives the story an unique twist and allows for faith to come into play more than once. I'm sure there will be alot of debate as to how much of the story is real, and if their really is a conspiracy behind the park and Disney's death. Dixon does SUCH a great job at combining fact and fiction, that you'll be searching Google when you're done, trying to figure out which is which!

i know you are wishing I was giving away this copy, but like The Davinci Code, I want to keep it for when we take kiddo to Disney World. I want to go through and note the details and unique aspects that Dixon mentions and see them in person. Like his story, when you present something in a way we are used to seeing, it's amazing how much the mind fills in, even if it's not there. By the time you finish this book I know for sure that you will be even more stunned at the sheer genius that was Walt Disney. Take the trip in this book and you will NOT regret it-even if you're not a huge Disney fan-it is SO interesting and a great read!
